Part of my goal for the year is to read twenty books. Below is a list of the books that I can't wait to get my hands on!
AUDIO BOOKS
50/50: Secrets I Learned Running 50 Marathons in 50 Days -- and How You Too Can Achieve Super Endurance! Dean Karnazes - in this book, Dean discusses his adventure in running 50 marathons in 50 states, in 50 days; this was the perfect book for me since I plan to run 50 marathons in 50 days (just not in 50 days - more like 10 years). (Jan 2020)
AI Superpowers: China, Silicon Valley, and the New World Order Kai-Fu Lee, Mikael Naramore, et al.
The Minimalist Way: Minimalism Strategies to Declutter Your Life and Make Room for Joy Erica Layne
Girl Logic: The Genius and the Absurdity Iliza Shlesinger and Mayim Bialik - the comedian Iliza talks about her journey into comedy and discusses the complexities females face both from external forces as well as inside our heads. I couldn't relate too much to this book because there was a big focus on fashion and dating. I've been married for over 10 years now and value comfort over fashion. There were some parts that had me laughing out loud; so it was worth the listen. (Jan 2020)
The 1-Page Marketing Plan: Get New Customers, Make More Money, And Stand Out From The Crowd Allan Dib - this was an interesting take on marketing and I got some insights to use for my business
The 10X Rule: The Only Difference Between Success and Failure Grant Cardone and Gildan Media, LLC
Never Split the Difference: Negotiating as if Your Life Depended on It Chris Voss
Superfans: The Easy Way to Stand Out, Grow Your Tribe, And Build a Successful Business Pat Flynn - enjoyed this book; Pat had some interesting ideas. Felt like I was listening to a close friend of mine sharing their experiences and confirming that I'm on the right path. Always put people first and focus on relationships. (Jan 2020)
The Dichotomy of Leadership: Balancing the Challenges of Extreme Ownership to Lead and Win Jocko Willink and Leif Babin
Living with a SEAL: 31 Days Training with the Toughest Man on the Planet Jesse Itzler - this was a great book! The SEAL in this book is David Goggins and I loved his book Can't Hurt Me. Really interesting story of how David Goggins moved into Jesse's house for a month to train him during a really cold winter month in NYC. Some of the workouts sounded crazy (like 1,000 push ups). I never wanted the book to end. (Jan 2020)
HARD COPY BOOKS
Zen as Fck: A Journal for Practicing the Mindful Art of Not Giving a Sht Monica Sweeney - Had to put this one down because it wasn't very interesting for me. I'm too much of a positive person and didn't need the zenness.
Mind Your Business: A Workbook to Grow Your Creative Passion Into a Full-time Gig Ilana Griffo and Paige Tate & Co. - the book provided a really effective journal for me to document my thoughts as I launched my business. Allowed me to introspectively think about why I started the business; I highly recommend it. (Jan 2020)
Finish What You Start: The Art of Following Through, Taking Action, Executing, & Self-Discipline Peter Hollins and Gregory Sutton - not the most professionally edited book I've read...still was a good reminder of some productivity and execution knowledge that I learned from other books. (Mar 2020)
5 Day Weekend: Freedom to Make Your Life and Work Rich with Purpose Nik Halik and Garrett B. Gunderson - wow! I feel like this book was written for me; so many golden nuggets of insights and advice. This is a book I will read again and refer to. Actionable steps to take for achieving your 5 day weekend lifestyle. (Feb 2020)
Fixing Your Feet: Injury Prevention and Treatments for Athletes John Vonhof
None of Your Business: A Winning Approach to Turn Service Providers into Entrepreneurs Shawn Dill and Lacey Book - the book focused a lot on services (centered on chiropractics) and was not as relevant for me as some others. I still learned a few new things though. (Mar 2020)
Achieve Your Goals Now With PowerList Chris A. Baird
If You Want It Done Right, You Don't Have to Do It Yourself!: The Power of Effective Delegation Donna M Genett - a very simple and quick read. Uses the power of story telling to describe why delegating is such a meaningful activity. Provided me with some steps on how to delegate properly as well as how to receive work from someone and ask the right questions. (Jan 2020)
The Customer Rules: The 39 Essential Rules for Delivering Sensational Service Lee Cockerell - this was one of my favorites. Got some really great tips on how to treat customers to keep them coming back :)
Croissants vs. Bagels: Strategic, Effective, and Inclusive Networking at Conferences Robbie Samuels - was interesting to learn about being inclusive at conferences and standing in a way to invite others to join the conversation.
